Sparrows Installation Services completed a specialist ductwork removal and reinstallation project at a food processing plant in Avonmouth, working during a planned weekend shutdown to allow a third-party deep clean to take place.
Using a Maeda MC405 spider crane and two electric cherry pickers, the team carefully dismantled sections of high-level ductwork before reinstalling them back into their original positions, replacing seals and gaskets where required.
Electric Access Equipment Support
Weekend Shutdown Delivery
The Challenge
The project had to be completed during a limited shutdown period at an operational food processing plant. Sections of ductwork needed to be dismantled to provide access for deep cleaning, before being reinstalled back into their original positions.
Working at height within the plant meant the team needed the right combination of lifting equipment, powered access and experienced operatives to complete the work safely and efficiently.
Our Approach
Sparrows Installation Services used a Maeda MC405 spider crane from the crawler crane department, supported by two electric cherry pickers, to access and control the ductwork sections during removal and reinstallation.
The team dismantled the required sections of ducting, allowed access for the cleaning works, then reassembled the ductwork with new seals and gaskets where required.
The Solution
The project was completed over a Saturday and Sunday shutdown, allowing the client’s programme to continue with minimal disruption.
The work was supported by a multi-skilled team with experience across IPAF operation, steelwork and duct installation, enabling Sparrows Installation Services to manage a complex access and lifting project within a restricted time frame.
