Sparrows Installation Services completed the dismantling, removal and recycling of a large manufacturing unit in Trowbridge, using cold cutting techniques, forklift support, HIAB lifting and dedicated transport for scrap removal.
Forklift and access equipment support
A 7 tonne Hyster forklift, 3 tonne forklift, scissor lift and cherry picker were used to access and move sections of the machinery.
Removal and recycling
Three transport lorries were required to remove the dismantled equipment for scrap and recycling.
Sparrows Installation Services were appointed to dismantle and remove a large manufacturing unit from a factory in Trowbridge. With cold cutting methods required and many fixings proving difficult to remove, the team used a combination of manual dismantling, forklifts, access equipment, HIAB lifting and transport lorries to complete the removal and recycling works.
The Challenge
The manufacturing unit had to be dismantled and disposed of within a working factory environment. The team were only permitted to use cold cutting techniques, which made the dismantling process more demanding, particularly where screws and bolts were threaded or rounded off.
Our Approach
Sparrows Installation Services supplied a three-person team with forklift support, HIAB lifting, access equipment and transport for scrap removal. The team dismantled the machine in stages, creating safe access for the forklifts before larger sections were lifted, moved and loaded for recycling.
The Solution
All services were disconnected by the client before Sparrows Installation Services began the dismantling works. The unit was disassembled and removed using two forklift trucks, a HIAB and three transport lorries for disposal and recycling. A scissor lift and cherry picker were also used to support safe access during the dismantling process.

Cold cutting and manual dismantling
The team dismantled as much of the unit as possible by hand, using cold cutting techniques where required.
The Result
The dismantling and removal works were completed as planned, with the manufacturing unit disassembled, removed from site and sent for scrap and recycling.
