Sparrow Installation Services were appointed for a second visit following the successful installation of a backup generator in Plymouth. This phase involved installing silencers onto steelwork, moving the load into the building, and positioning inlet and outlet attenuators on both sides of the structure.
The work required a three-person team, a JCB 540/170 telehandler with jib attachment, fork extensions, jacks and skates to safely handle and position loads of around 3 tonnes each.

The Challenge
Following the initial generator installation, Sparrow Installation Services returned to site to install the remaining silencers and attenuators. The team needed to lift the silencers onto steelwork, move the load into the building, and then jack and skate it over the previously installed generator.
The inlet and outlet attenuators also had to be positioned accurately into openings on both sides of the building, with each attenuator weighing around 3 tonnes.
Our Approach
The Solution
A three-person Sparrow Installation Services team attended site with a JCB 540/170 telehandler fitted with a jib attachment. The silencers were lifted onto the steelwork before being carefully telehandled into the building.
Once inside, the load was jacked and skated over the previously installed generator and positioned as required. The team then installed the inlet and outlet attenuators using fork extensions, accurately positioning the units into the openings on both sides of the building. Each attenuator weighed approximately 3 tonnes, with around 7 tonnes moved in total during the project.
