Sparrow Installation Services were appointed to receive and store a number of specialist units before delivering them to a hospital site on the agreed installation date. Once delivered by HIAB, the units were moved into position and lowered approximately 8 metres into the basement using the pre-installed lifting beam.
The works were completed by a three-person team using a HIAB, pallet trucks, beam trolleys and chain blocks to safely lower and position the units as required.

HIAB transport and delivery
The Challenge
Sparrow Installation Services were required to manage the full process from storage through to final positioning. The units were first delivered to Sparrows’ premises and stored until an installation date was confirmed.
On the day of installation, the units had to be loaded onto a HIAB, delivered to the hospital, moved into position and lowered into the basement. The team also had to lift the concrete cover sections to open the access point, lower the units approximately 8 metres, and then recover the opening once the works were complete.
Our Approach
The Solution
After storing the units the Sparrow team loaded them onto a HIAB and delivered them to the hospital on the designated installation day. A three person team then moved the various loads into position using pallet trucks.
To lower the units into the basement, the team first lifted the concrete cover sections to open the access point. The units were then lowered approximately 8 metres via the pre-installed lifting beam, using beam trolleys and chain blocks to control the movement. Once all units had been lowered and positioned as required, the access point was covered again and the works were completed as planned.
