FACTORY RELOCATION

Turnkey factory moves across the South West and the whole UK

Factory Relocation Services: Moving Your Whole Operation, Start to Finish

Turnkey Factory Relocation, Nationwide

Moving an entire factory is a very different job from shifting one machine. A full factory relocation means taking a working production operation apart, getting it out of one building, onto the road and into another, then putting it all back together and proving it runs. Sparrow Installation Services manages that whole project under one roof, so you deal with a single team from the first site survey to the final sign-off.

Our factory relocation services cover every stage of the move: decommissioning and dismantling, machinery removals, transport, reinstallation and commissioning. Whether you are consolidating two sites, moving to a larger unit or handling a single production line relocation, we plan the sequence around your output so downtime is kept as short as the job allows. It is a genuinely turnkey factory relocation: one point of contact, one method statement, one accountable team.

As a division of the Sparrow Crane Hire Group, we can call on a fleet of modern cranes when a lift is part of the plan and combine that with the skating, jacking and rigging skills a heavy machinery installation demands. We are based in Bristol and work throughout the South West and across the whole of the UK, from a compact workshop move to the relocation of a complete manufacturing plant.

What We Relocate

Whole Factory & Plant Relocation

Complete site-to-site factory removals: we decommission, dismantle, remove, transport and reinstall your machinery and plant as a single managed project, so an entire operation moves without responsibility passing between contractors.

Production Line Relocation

Conveyors, cells and linked machinery moved as a set. We map and label the line before we touch it, then reinstall it in sequence at the new site so it goes back together in the right order and runs as before.

Machinery Removals & Reinstallation

Machinery relocation for individual items of heavy plant: skating, jacking and crane-assisted machinery removals from the building, then positioning, levelling, alignment and reinstallation on the new floor ready to reconnect.

    How We Relocate Your Factory

    1. Site survey and relocation plan: we assess machine weights, access and floor loadings at both sites, agree the move sequence around your production, and produce full risk assessments and method statements.
    2. Decommissioning and dismantling: we isolate services, disconnect, drain down and strip out equipment, recording machine settings, pipe runs and line layouts so nothing is lost between sites.
    3. Machinery removals and transport: skating, jacking and crane-assisted load-out of heavy plant, then secure packing and transport between sites, with abnormal load haulage arranged where size or weight requires it.
    4. Reinstallation, levelling and alignment: positioning, levelling, aligning and bolting down each machine on the new floor, in the correct line sequence, ready to reconnect.
    5. Reconnection and commissioning: bringing machines back to a running state and testing them so you can restart production with confidence.

    Equipment & Capability

    • Machine skates, toe jacks and hydraulic jacking systems for heavy plant removals
    • Hydraulic gantries for high-capacity lifting where crane access is limited
    • Special-purpose and versatile fork lift trucks for load-out and positioning
    • Full crane support via the Sparrow Crane Hire Group for the largest lifts
    • Rigging, packing and load restraint for safe equipment relocation and transport
    • Abnormal load transport arranged for oversized or overweight machinery

    Industries We Serve

We relocate factories, production lines and plant for manufacturers across every sector, including:

    • Food and beverage and packaging
    • Pharmaceutical and healthcare
    • Automotive and aerospace
    • Print, plastics and rubber
    • Metalwork, engineering and general manufacturing

    Why Choose Sparrow Installation Services

    • One team for the whole move: dismantle, remove, transport, reinstall and commission are all handled in-house, so responsibility never gets passed between contractors.
    • Crane fleet on call: as part of the Sparrow Crane Hire Group we bring modern cranes to site when a lift is needed, without hiring in from a third party, backed by our heavy lifting team and lifting equipment hire.
    • Fully accredited: we hold SMAS, RISQS, UVDB and SafeContractor accreditation, are a CPA member, and our operators carry CPCS and NPORS cards, so your relocation runs to recognised health and safety standards.
    • Planned around your production: we sequence the move to your timescales and phase it where you need to keep part of the operation running.
    • Experienced with sensitive and heavy plant: from single 600kg units to complete production lines, we have moved and installed equipment in tight, live and awkward environments.
    • South West base, UK-wide reach: a Bristol home base with the capability to relocate factories anywhere in the country. Start with a free quote or arrange a site visit.

For examples of the precise, access-restricted work a relocation involves, see our case studies, including a hospital equipment project that combined storage, delivery and a basement installation on a tight site with no crane access.

Recent Factory Relocation & Installation Projects

Recent projects from our team show the access-restricted, heavy-plant work a factory relocation demands:

    • Hospital basement equipment: storage, delivery and installation of hospital equipment into a basement with no crane access, overcoming heavily restricted access on a live site.
    • 600kg confined-access install: a 600kg unit moved and installed without a crane, using tracked carriers and controlled handling where overhead power lines ruled out lifting.
    • Backup generator project, Plymouth: silencers and attenuators lifted and installed for a backup generator project, planned and delivered on a working site.
    • Hospital MRI backup generator: a back-up generator moved into position and installed to support a hospital MRI scanner, planned around a critical healthcare environment.

    Factory Relocation FAQs

What is the difference between factory relocation and machine moving?

Machine moving is shifting one item of plant from A to B. Factory relocation is the whole project: decommissioning and dismantling the machines, machinery removals from the building, transport to the new site, then reinstalling, reconnecting and commissioning everything so the operation runs again. If you are moving a single machine we can do that too, but a factory relocation is the end-to-end move of your production operation, managed as one job.

How do you keep downtime to a minimum during a relocation?

We plan the move around your production schedule and, where the new site allows, phase it so part of your operation keeps running while another part moves. During dismantling we record machine settings, pipe runs and line layouts so equipment goes back together the same way at the far end, which speeds up reinstallation and commissioning. A clear method statement and sequence for each machine keeps the whole project on track.

Can you move a complete production line and put it back in the right order?

Yes. Production line relocation is a core part of what we do. We map the line before we touch it, label and record how conveyors, cells and linked machines connect, then move them as a set. On the new floor we reinstall them in sequence, level and align each machine and reconnect, so the line runs the way it did before the move.

How much does a factory relocation cost?

Every relocation is priced individually because cost depends on the number and weight of machines, the access at both sites, whether cranes or abnormal load transport are needed, how the move is phased and how far the equipment travels. The best way to get an accurate figure is a site visit so we can see the plant and the access. Contact us on 0117 462 8550 (option 6) to get a free quote.

Which areas do you cover for factory relocation?

We are based in Bristol and cover the South West as our home region, including Bath, Gloucester, Swindon, Exeter, Plymouth and Cardiff, as well as relocations across the whole of the UK. Because we can move plant and, where needed, arrange abnormal load transport, we handle site-to-site relocations nationwide, not just locally.
