If you have any question about this policy or about how we handle your information, please contact us using the details above.
What personal data we collect
When you submit an enquiry or request a quote through our website, we collect the information you give us. This is usually your name, email address, telephone number, the location of the work and the details of your enquiry.
When you contact us by telephone or email, we collect the information contained in that correspondence.
When you use our website, we collect technical and usage information through cookies and similar technologies, such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your approximate location and the type of device and browser you use.
We do not knowingly collect special category data, and we ask that you do not include sensitive personal information in your enquiry.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
To respond to your enquiry, arrange a site survey and prepare a quotation. Our lawful basis is that this processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
To carry out work you have instructed and to manage the contract between us, including planning, delivering and invoicing the work. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract.
To keep records for health and safety, insurance, accounting and tax purposes. Our lawful basis is compliance with a legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in keeping accurate business records.
To understand how our website is used and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. Our lawful basis is your consent where cookies require it, and otherwise our legitimate interest in improving our website and marketing.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and Google Ads to advertise our services. These services set cookies and collect information about your visit, such as the pages you view and how you arrived at the site.
If you send us an enquiry using a form on the site, we may share an encrypted (hashed) version of the contact details you provide, such as your name, email address and telephone number, with Google. This is used only to measure whether our advertising led to your enquiry. The details are converted into an irreversible code in your browser before they are sent, so Google does not receive them in readable form. We do not share the content of your enquiry for this purpose.
We also use Microsoft Clarity to understand how our pages are used. Clarity records a playback of your visit, including the pages you view, mouse movement, scrolling and where you click, so that we can see which parts of the site are difficult to use. Text you type into forms is masked and is not recorded. This information is used to improve the website. It is not used to identify you and is not combined with the content of your enquiry.
You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and control how ads are personalised at https://myadcenter.google.com.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary, with:
Service providers who help us run our business and our website, including our website hosting provider, our email provider and Google as described above. These providers act on our instructions.
Sparrow Crane Hire Limited, our associated company, where your enquiry relates to crane hire or where crane support forms part of the work you have asked us to carry out.
Professional advisers such as our accountants, insurers and legal advisers, where required.
Regulatory or law enforcement bodies, where we are required to do so by law.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of our service providers, including Google, process data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision, so that your information receives an equivalent level of protection.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for up to two years from your last contact with us, so that we can deal with follow up questions and repeat enquiries.
Where you become a customer, we keep contract, safety and financial records for seven years after the end of the work, to meet our legal, insurance and tax obligations.
Website analytics data is retained for the period set in our analytics account, which does not exceed fourteen months.
How we keep it safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Access to enquiry and customer information is limited to those in our business who need it to do their job, and to the service providers described above.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive certain data in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@sparrowinstallationservices.com. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to make the site work, to remember your preferences, and to measure how the site and our advertising perform. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so that we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority, at https://ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Our website contains links to other sites, including our associated company Sparrow Crane Hire Limited. This policy does not cover those sites, and we encourage you to read their own privacy policies.
